Washtenaw Literacy

Washtenaw Literacy is a non-profit organization that offers free assistance to adults 16 and older who wish to improve their reading, writing or English as a second language (ESL) skills.

Each year, we serve 1,300 learners in Washtenaw County and beyond in our one-on-one tutoring program or though our ESL or basic literacy groups. Our groups are located in various locations in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti area, including Washtenaw Community College, Ypsilanti District Library, Washtenaw County Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled, Vineyard Church, Forsythe Middle School, King of Kings Lutheran Church] among others.

Adults who want to improve their reading, writing or English skills can receive one-on-one tutoring services completely free of charge by contacting us by phone at 734-879-1320 or stopping by our main office inside Ypsilanti District Library on Whittaker Road.

Our tutoring programs are very popular; we are always looking for volunteer tutors. We also have other volunteering opportunities, if you would like to share your marketing, fundraising or other professional skills.
