Thompson Building

The Thompson Building stands at the northeast corner of the intersection of River Street and E. Cross Street. The building served as a barracks during the Civil War for troops waiting to board the train, and is currently in a state of severe disrepair, in contrast to the well-kept buildings on the west side of River Street.

The building is owned by David Kircher, but the City had it taken by the court and put into receivership. The first court-appointed receiver was Barnes and Barnes; no noticable improvement was made to the building. Stewart Beal was named as a second receiver, and is currently in possession of the building. While no significant repairs have yet been done by Beal, Ann Arbor's Bluestone Group is advertising post-renovation space in the building for retail, restaurants, and offices.
