How do you want this implemented?

  • This seems to be a common function of the "ann_arbor_ypsi" livejournal community. "Hey, I'm looking for x that doesn't suck - where can I find it?" Probably lots of info harvestable there. But I agree, implementation here is a little fuzzy. Would this be something most appropriate on individual Category:Store pages, as a "reviews" section, or collected by category somewhere? I lean towards the former. --Murph 19:34, 21 November 2006 (PST)
    • AboutUs.org uses a star-based rating system.
      • There are a couple smart tricks I'd like to crib from our pals at AboutUs, but the star rating system is not one of them. :) --BrianKerr
        • Yea, we are planning on moving away from that a bit.. :-) -MarkDilley
    • All right, I know this is a very point-of-view style, but I really like seeing text in articles on AW that say, "Crazy expensive for what you get" or "A fun place to go" or other unsubstantiated, biased information. Stars really don't convey much of anything. -MattH
      • Oh, I certainly agree! I'd rather opinion be as specific as possible, rather than trying to implement an abstraction system at this point. I do think, though, that we should strive to clearly segment off / label opinion, so that an article might have a more NPOV section and a more talky/reviewy section. - Murph.
        • I'm with ya here. Let's not do the NPOV crap, that seems both overkill and joykill for arborwiki. An alternative approach might be templating out the more factual details (a la Template:Store) and leaving the page text reasonably open-ended --BrianKerr
        • See Minsky the Tailor and Template:Rate for one implementation MattH
