[edit] slightly older planning notes (archived on talk page)

[edit] Date

  • MattH can attend anytime after 12 July 07
  • 18-21 July 07 is the Ann Arbor Art Fair, a bad time
  • Conor O'Neill's availability in late June: Friday, 22 - Unavailable; Saturday, 23 - Available; Friday, 29 - Available; Saturday, 30 - Available

[edit] Location

  • Conor O'Neills banquet room?
    • kind of an unusual suggestion for this kind of event -- but I like this one best. centrally located, nice space, food+drink in venue, and possibility of writing one check to cover just about everything; see availability above --BrianKerr
  • Frenchie's [1]
  • [Cobblestone farm] [[2]]
  • Hathaway's Hideaway - not sure about wireless access or other tech amenities here
  • Ann Arbor IT Zone (has wireless, but perhaps not enough for this crowd).
  • U of M classrooms? - Rooms in central campus will cost $. Rooms on North Campus should not be an issue. I asked some follow up questions about getting open WiFi or a log on for the conference participants and also about insurance. (Winston - 2007.05.01)
  • Campground of some sort?
  • Ypsilanti's Corner Brewery has a lounge/meeting space that will comfortably hold a few dozen reserveable for about $50 (I think), free wifi, beer, possibility to order in food from anywhere that delivers. Can be somewhat echoey, though. --Murph

[edit] Tasks

Brainstorm some things to do. Once we get a venue set, people can sign up to do specific tasks.

Everyone who wants to help should skim through these links for ideas.

  • ArbCamp Logo!
  • Name Tags/Badges.
  • Create Attendees page so we can get an idea of a count. Maybe keep it on: http://barcamp.org/ArbCamp
  • Map out local area for attendees. Contents: Eats. Drinks. Sleeps.
  • Power cords. You'll always need one.
  • Notify local open WiFi area of conference and try to get sponsorship and/or food discount.
  • Depending on venue and format, confirm local WiFi connectivity before conference starts.

[edit] Should we maybe swap these?

Why is Talk:ArbCamp all about ArbCamp, and the main page all about BarCamp and bitching and stuff? Like what you would maybe tend to see on a Discussion page. Could it perhaps be better to swap things around?

Yeah, let's swap. --BrianKerr
