[edit] Show & tell is fun!
Let's plan something. Blackboard style. We know we can pull off an event when we have:
1. a venue + meeting time 2. some minimal level of organization / planning and 3. an invitation to spam out, other publicity
[edit] Venue:
Arbor Brewing Company tap room.
[edit] Time:
Some evening. I'll propose a Tuesday.
Can I counter-propose a Wednesday? The online availability info for the Tap Room is out of date, but how about Weds, April 25?
[edit] Organization:
yup
[edit] Planning:
something like an open space event
[edit] Invitation to spam out:
send the a2b3 list an evite or similar (thinking eventbrite)
[edit] Funding:
ask $10 from attendees, try to get an org to sponsor the whole thing, ?
[edit] blah blah blah
Definitely suggest an Open Space thing. Just had lunch with Ron Jeffries & Chet Henderson, and they had interesting insights into what would make it useful and worthwhile. Worth the exercise, perhaps beforehand, to thrash out what we actually want, and what such a thing would be for. Not "to have a place to work" (we have those), nor "to be downtown" (any of us can be), but something much more like a Victorian Gentleman's Club: posh feel, comfy, place to sit and chat, do some business meetings, occasionally have a World Traveller speaker, lion's heads on wall, &c &c. -- Tozier
Capturing a few thoughts from the overlong A2b3 e-mail thread: --BrianKerr
- via Jose: Blue Nile - conference room + wifi
- via Ed: Eastern Accents work day on Thursdays: come early, stay late and work on stuff (2 weeks ago I had a nice client meeting @ EA directly following a2b3)
- !incubator
- shared services (mail, etc)
- what else?
- Conor O'Neill's also has a banquet room set up for business-y meetings, with wi-fi, etc.
- As somebody with a set-schedule day job in Ypsi, I'm all for an evening event, which I might actually be able to make. I propose !Tuesdays. --Murph 19:55, 14 April 2007 (BST)
