Located at 1629 S. State Street, The Produce Station is a small grocery store that carries a wide variety of fresh produce, much of it grown in Michigan, and bedding plants, in addition to a carefully-chosen selection of groceries (including Rosewood Farms extra-firm tofu), Avalon Bakery and Zingerman's bread, and a salad bar. At Christmastime, they also sell trees and wreaths. All of their merchandise is good quality, with the slightly higher prices you'd expect. A small freezer of ice cream and frozen yogurt. Since early December 2007, a small selection of reasonably-priced wines, and since early 2008, a small selection of interesting beers.
They have a dinner bar that offers salads, soups, and (usually) two veggie and two-meat based entrees.
