The Historic East Side Neighborhood Association , started in 1973, is Ypsilanti's oldest neighborhood association.

HESNA serves the adjoining neighborhood area just east of Depot Town, from the corner of East Forest Avenue and Prospect on the north east, then west on Forest to Norris, then south on Norris to the north right-of-way line of the railroad, then southeasterly along the right-of-way to Grove Road, then north on Grove to EastCross Street, then east on Cross to Prospect, then north on Prospect back to Forest.

The mission of the Historic East Side Neighborhood Association to:

1) protect and promote the best interests of the residents of the neighborhood association;

2) promote and strive for the improvement and betterment of all its public facilities and services;

3) promote and encourage a better community and civic spirit;

4) foster goodwill and friendship between and among all the residents of the area;

5) preserve and promote the history and historical character of the neighborhood; and

6) to cooperate with county and city officials and with other civic organizations, for the general welfare of the entire community of Ypsilanti.
