"Keeping Ypsilanti Evil" for the last few decades, downtown Ypsi's Elbow Room features a wide variety of acts, ranging from the Quite Scientific indie-folkie crowd to singers enslaved by animatronic robots. Entry is typically a suggested donation of $5 to the performers, though an $8 cover is sometimes charged for larger acts.
Thursday nights are "Mofo Karaoke", with the Elbow's customized playlist, with Guitar Hero opening.
The Elbow is not recommended for those allergic to cigarette smoke or scenesters.

- In the past few weeks, Juliette Lewis, Jimmy Fallon, Ellen Page, Drew Barrymore, Eve, and Alia Shawkat - she played Maeby on "Arrested Development" - have all been in the bar on South Washington Street in downtown Ypsilanti, and several of them have been there more than once, from what I've been told by Elbow Room regulars.
