Cool weather has delayed the strawberry season by a week or two in Michigan, and a swarm of hungry insects compounded problems for the last pick-and-pay patch in Jackson County.

Sodt's is the last you-pick strawberry farm in Jackson County. Managing a patch for the public is tricky, David Sodt said. Weather is a major factor. Certain areas of the field and various strawberry varieties ripen at different times.
