Help us list and map out the awesome places to go sledding in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.

• A small park with no visible identification sits on Crest Avenue just north of West Liberty. The park is actually the far end of the Slauson Middle School athletic field. It is very popular with neighborhood kids and parents.
• Hunt Park on the North side of town has a nice hill. If there isn't much traffic, you might even try racing down Spring Street or Sunset Street.
• The Radrick Farms Golf Course has one of the tallest sledding hills in town, but you've got to snowshoe or cross-country ski to get there.
• Northside Elementary has a nice hill on the southeast side, but sledding has been banned since several major injuries in the 1990s, including a young girl who suffered severe brain injury due to the hay bales which used to be placed at the bottom of the hill---Michigan's freeze-thaw cycle would create rock-hard blocks out of the bales, which were initially placed to prevent sledders from breaking through a chainlink fence and going into Barton Drive, which runs at the bottom of the hill. The bales have been removed in recent years, but sledding is still considered dangerous and prohibited on this hill.
• The mother of all sledding hills in Ann Arbor is the Huron Hills Golf Course off Huron Parkway just south of Geddes. If you head left from the crosswalk, rather than going straight ahead to the main hills, there's a big hill with a sand trap you can make a wee ramp on and launch yourself into the air, especially on snow tubes.
• A determined crowd of small people sled down a man-made hill in Burns Park, known as Magic Mountain.
• In Ypsi, people sled down the short steep slopes that run from North Huron Street into Riverside Park.
• Beckley Park on Argo Drive (bounded by Pontiac Trail and Longshore Drive) on the North side of Ann Arbor
• Rolling Hills County Park in Ypsi has a sledding hill with tubes and toboggans for rent.
• Veterans Park, which is bounded by Dexter Avenue, Maple Road and Jackson Road has a large hill with two separate sled runs.
• Wurster Park has a fairly impressive hill, along with a group of dedicated sledders every winter.
• Montibeler Park, on Ellsworth Road east of Carpenter Road, behind Meijer
• Mushroom Park, between Saxon Street and Waltham Street, just north of Scio Church Road has small gentle hills for younger sledders.
• Crary Park on Washtenaw at Cambridge has a long, gentle sled run.
• Sledding is technically not allowed in Nichols Arboretum. Use the Geddes Street entrance, go down the hill to where the path opens into a large open hill, and sled there.
