My Own Best of Ann Arbor List

=================
  • Best Comic book store
    • Vault of Midnight. Totally awesome selection; could dump significant fraction of my paycheck there weekly.
  • Best Burger
    • Wow, Connor O'Neils, your 'Go Blue' was awesome! Am a bit disappointed in myself that I was wooed by a burger with a zillion toppings rather than the pure, unadulterated taste of a really good slab of beef (man! I miss Joey's Meatcutter's Inn but the thing was REALLY tasty and pairs perfectly with a pint o' the good stuff.
  • Best Fries
    • Sack of waffle fries from Mr. Spots
  • Best Restaurant
    • Earthen Jar. You don't even need to know what it is; just fill your plate with everything labeled 'very spicy'
  • Best Park for Walking with or without your dog
  • Best Biking
    • Central campus, across, around and thru the Quad. Awesome. Tho if you're mountain biking, Dhu Varren is a lot of fun.
  • Best Scones
    • Sparrow Meats and Produce - don't know where they get them, but they're flaky, sweet, totally awesome after 20 secs in the microwave, and they're only a buck!
  • Best Jazz
    • Waaaah! Firefly closed! *Now* what do I do? At least I have the radio
  • Best 3am Pizza
    • Used to be called NYPizza, don't remember new name.
  • Best Pizza
    • The deep dish I make @ home using a cast iron skillet and $3 dough from Whole Foods - lots of olive oil in the pan, spread out the dough, meats and veg's on bottom, top with slices mozzarella, pour on sauce, sprinkle with Parmesan and 25mins in 400 degree oven. Anthony's is pretty good.
  • Best Indian Buffet
    • Madras Masala; never disappoints
  • Best Korean
    • Is Maru closed permanently? Their blood sausage stew was really really good. Otherwise, Seoul Street is expanding their menu and their BiBimBap is easily the best around.
  • Best Chinese Food
    • Tk Wu - skip the Americanized choices (tho they're also very good and make a cheap and tasty lunch @ fastfood prices) and pick from the Chinese menu; the double-cooked pork is indescribably good. Have a GIANT bowl of beef or seafood noodle soup for < $7. Shia Chang is also pretty amazing.
  • Best Coffee
    • Cafe Ambrosia. And if you bring your own container they'll fill it for 73 cents.
  • Best Deli Counter for Meats
    • Copernicus Market -the spicy salami and smoked ham is awesome (and schway cheap)
  • Best Cheese Counter
    • Much love to Morgan and York where I almost ALWAYS leave with some amazing new cheese I would never have found on my own.
