A traditional American diner, serving, among a wide variety of menu items, breakfast food all day long. Want to try something new? They have a special every day that is most of the time not something on menu (usually under $3). Although breakfast is served all day, come before 11am and enjoy their special breakfast pricing . Even after 11, their food is more than reasonably priced.
In March 2016, the hours are every day 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., except for Sundays 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Owner Benny Shehaj himself works the cash register.
Olympian Michael Phelps ate hearty breakfasts here while training prior to the 2008 games, and his picture is up on the wall, along with photos and schedules from a number of University of Michigan sports teams.
Benny's Diner is located in the former location of Abe's.

It was easy to tell when swimmer Michael Phelps was in the midst of a particularly grueling training period. The door to Benny's Family Dining, on South Industrial Highway in Ann Arbor, near the University of Michigan campus, would swing open around 7 a.m. And in would walk Phelps, still groggy after the day's first workout, sliding into a booth near the front of the diner - away from the smokers seated in back.
