Watercress was a restaurant that replaced La Pinata at the corner of Liberty and Stadium. After it closed, UpSouth Cafe replaced it.

The new restaurant, to be called Watercress, will serve fresh fish, seafood, pasta, and ribs. It will also serve a few of the old favorites from La Piñata's menu, like the quesadilla and the stacked enchiladas. "We really don't want to be known as just a fish house," Danci says. "We're going to be more diversified than that." The partners hope to reopen in mid-November.

Watercress was a silly name for a restaurant. It was the opposite of enticing, and did not stimulate the gastric juices in any way. It was part of an ego trip for its principal owner, the late Ann Arbor banker George Cress, Jr.
