The Washtenaw County Weatherization Program provides free weatherization tools and services to income eligible residents of Washtenaw County. The program is run by the county Employment Training and Community Services department, or ETCS. The program received $4.1 million in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, better known as the stimulus package.
The program will provide free installation of certain energy saving materials such as insulation, caulking and weather stripping. Inefficient appliances such as water heaters and refrigerators can also be repaired or replaced under the program. The program also offers education on energy conservation. The exact variety of services offered at any time depends on the amount of funding is available.
To qualify for the program, residents must meet certain financial requirements during the application process.
