Is it actually more helpful to split off stuff that's located in Ypsi, or to just list "Ypsilanti" as a location, analogous to "Kerrytown" or "Downtown"? Most people who are looking for a resource (e.g. a taqueria) don't care which side of the line it's on, they just want to hop in a car and go there.

> Depends. Are you typical Ann Arborite imperialist scum who simply thinks of Ypsi as A2's "wrong side of the tracks"? Or is Ypsi its own separate place? This mini-debate has been repeated for every ArborFoo around: -Blogs, -Update, etc, with the Arbor-centric regionalists pitted against Ypsilanti exceptionalists, because the founders of each of these sites have been myopic Ann Arborites. MattH - is it possible to have interwiki linking setup so that an Ypsi page on ArborWiki redirects to the page on YpsiWiki, rather than containing a weblink? That would be a good way of connecting them smoothly while maintaining the separateness of them.

I'm the original poster: I'm no imperialist (and I live just outside of Ann Arbor myself), and I understand that Ypsi is a separate city. But the two cities are very closely linked. More and more people who work in A2 are living in Ypsi and are going to Ypsi for dinner. People from Ypsi come to A2 for dinner, too. Separating the two only encourages the traditional old-style Ann Arbor attitude that the world stops at US-23. That's why, for example, the local LJ community is "Ann Arbor-Ypsi". Events and resources in one place are relevant to people who live in the other. If it's possible to set up seamless redirection, that might be the best option, as long as stuff from one comes up in searches from the other.

I'm the original person who wrote this review. Note that a few things have been lost in the translation to ypsiwiki - it lost its categories, links to other mexican restaurants, etc etc. It's time to get a functioning Interwiki running here so that it's possible to link across the border without making it a huge hassle. Ed

I thought I had copied over all the categories... sorry Ed.

I've added an InterWiki table for YpsiWiki to the database, but the AW software isn't recognizing it. -MattH 14:04, 21 Apr 2006 (PDT)
