Promoting a sustainable Michigan has some new grass roots resources. One is a locally based (Ann Arbor - Ypsilanti) meetup group that has evolved into an ongoing educational program put on by members on aspects of relocalization. Presentations are given on everything from renewable energy to permaculture design, to developing 'transition towns' see http://www.meetup.com/sustainablemichigan/ for more information.

also, "Transition Michigan" is also another new web resource stemming from a 'movement' begun in the Uk called "Transition Towns" (see this you tube video for an understanding of the Transition Town concept:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQF09NG00V8). It is a process whereby communities self organize and develop community 'energy descent' plans and 'free university-like' forums and teach-ins for re-skilling and developing the tools for a low carbon/low energy consumptive, locally supported lifestyle.
