St. Thomas Lutheran Church has a rich heritage, having been founded by the first Lutheran Missionary to Michigan in 1842. Rooted in the life-giving teachings of Holy Scripture, the congregation bears the fruits of a life of praise, love, and service amid the new opportunities of the 21st century. As part of its ministry it owns and operates Freedom Childcare Center, sharing the message of Christ with children and their families.
Friedrich Schmid was the founding pastor.
