Sonic Lunch is a weekly Thursday summertime lunch free music series held in Liberty Plaza. The series began in 2008 under sponsorship and programming by the Bank of Ann Arbor.

Sonic Lunch: Timeline

  • 2015-May-18 Sonic lunch appears on the May 18, 2015 agenda of the Ann Arbor City Council so that the Council can vote on the street closings required for some of the scheduled dates for the 2015 season. The performances requiring a block of Liberty Street to be closed fall on June 4, June 25 and Aug. 27, 2015. According to the staff memo accompanying the Council's resolution approving the street closings, "The sponsor [Bank of Ann Arbor] is working on its lineup and each of the three performances will likely create large crowds, similar to the last two years. The sponsor has asked for a block of Liberty Street to be closed to safely accommodate those crowds that may spill over into the streets on those days." The street closings were approved unanimously.
