The Saline City Council is expected to decide tonight whether to sell city-owned land to a Grand Haven developer proposing a $12.5 million, 100-unit senior housing project. The plan calls for a two-phase land purchase and build-out. The first phase involves purchasing 3.68 acres at a cost of about $331,000, and an option on the remaining 3.01 acres for a price of about $210,700. The total price for the land is $541,900. The council postponed making a decision on selling the land at 7605 N. Maple Road on Dec. 20.

A developer from Grand Haven has proposed a $12.5 million, 100-unit senior assisted living community for the city-owned former service center property at 7605 N. Maple Road in Saline. During a work session with the City Council on Monday night, representatives from the for-profit company Senior Care Properties LLC said the project will be built in two phases and will include both general assisted living and memory care facilities.
