Obituary

Age 80, long-time Ann Arbor resident, passed away on Sunday, March 15 in MN. Despite a long and hard-fought battle with multiple illnesses and the loss of his wife of more than 40 years, Marion, Sam showed amazing resilience. He enjoyed his family, friends and many interests right until the end. Survived by sons, Bob (Kathryn) of St. Paul, MN and Bill (Irene) of Saratoga, CA, three grandchildren (Delia, Gloria and Sammy) as well as brother, David, of Birmingham MI, many nieces and nephews and more friends than he could count.Memorial service at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church (306 N. Division St., Ann Arbor) on Saturday, April 4 at 2:30 p.m., reception to follow. Interment at St. Andrew's. A log from 2006 was kept by Delia Grimes with updates on Sam's progress with complications after a fall resulting from Parkinson's disease.

An archive of Sam's photography is at the Clarke Historical Library at Central Michigan University. "The collection consists mainly of photographic images of railroad related topics, mostly in Michigan, and related subject files."
