Michigan is fortunate in its situation. In our corner of the world the tide of war is at its lowest. Now and then an echo comes from the nearby Canadian border, or the University community suffers a personal shock such as the death of Richard N. Hall, '11-'12, Dartmouth '15, the youngest son of Dr. Louis P. Hall, who died in the ambulance service in Alsace, a hero in the service of humanity, on Christmas morning. To him and to those nearest him the war has been a reality, but for most of us of the Middle West, it has only been the newspapers which have made us feel that all is not as it should be with the world. Not even financially have we been touched.
