Located at the north end of the Peninsular Dam, across the Huron River from the Peninsular Place apartments, on the site of the former Peninsular Paper Company (see a theme developing?), Peninsular Park was acquired from the paper company in 1986.

The park is accessed from LeForge Road, north of Huron River Drive; its most prominent feature is the aged powerhouse, which stands at the north end of the dam, still topped with the old "Peninsular Paper Co." sign. Currently, the most devoted users of the park are fishermen, who cast off the walkway just below the dam.

In the 1970s and early 1980s, when the land was still privately owned or had just been acquired as parkland, Peninsular achieved a low reputation as a location for crime, including the 1983 rape and murder of Laura Jean McBride, a crime which remained unsolved until the 2007 arraignment of Jimmy Eric Green, already serving a life sentence for a 1995 crime.
