Paul L. Meyer (1927-2010)

Obituary

Age 82, a beloved man passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born October 24, 1927 in Ypsilanti, the son of John C. and Beatrice C. (Martin) Meyer. Paul was born and raised on the Meyer family farm, owned since 1909, where he remained active in farming all of his life. He was a founding member of the Superior Township Fire Department which started in 1952. He carried Rural Route #2 mail, served on the Ypsilanti Farm Bureau and ASC-Washtenaw County. He loved the outdoors, specifically deer hunting and fishing. Paul is survived by: his wife, Betty L. (Clark) of 63 years; two sons, Rickie (Kathy) and Randy; grandchildren, Michelle (Shawn) Kellogg, Joshua (Michelle) Meyer, Antonio (Deena) and Samuel Meyer; step grandchildren, Kevin (Candice) Bullion and Chris (Ally) Bullion; great grandson, Jacob Meyer; step great grandson, Aden Bullion; many nieces and nephews, including a dear nephew, Mark DeKarske and a dear niece and her partner, Vicki Meyer and Pat Roggenbeck; many great- nieces and nephews; a wonderful next door neighbor who was like a son to him, Wayne Dickinson; as well as many close neighbors and township friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, son Larre, brother, Donald C. Meyer and sister, Maxine L. DeKarske. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Stark Funeral Service.Contributions in his memory may be made to either the American Heart Association or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Friday and from 12 Noon until time of service Saturday.
