Patsy Dascola (April 6, 1902 - February 16 2001) was an Ann Arbor barber from 1952 to 1986 in the Dascola Barbers business.

CRYSTAL FALLS — Patsy Dascola (Pasqualino Antonio D’Ascola), 98, of Iron River, formerly of Caspian and Ann Arbor, lower Michigan, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001 at Iron County General Hospital in Iron River.

He was born April 6, 1902, in Rota Greca (Greek Wheel), Provincia DiCosenza, Italy, son of the late Antonio and Amelia Dascola. He came to America when he was 10-years-old and moved to the Village of Palatka, which later became Caspian. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1927.

He was an apprentice barber with his dad, and received his barbering license in 1917 when he was 15-years-old. He owned a barber shop in Caspian for many years.

He met Emma Marchetti in Iron River, and married her in her home town of Norway in 1924. They settled in Caspian where they raised a daughter, Patsy Ann (Patricia), and lived until 1952.

At that time they moved to Ann Arbor, where he joined his brothers, Dominic and Ernest, in the Dascola Barber Business. He retired from barbering in 1986 and moved back to the Upper Peninsula with his wife.

For many years he enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer and a charter member of the Iron River County Club.

He enjoyed organizational work so he belonged to the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, the Golden Kiwanis Club, the Caspian Ski Club, the Duke of Abruzzi, St. Cecelia’s Men’s Club, and the Caspian Business Men’s Association.

He is survived by his daughter, Patricia (John W.) Cederna; seven grandchildren, Dr. John P. Cederna, Marie Cederna Ellingson, Thomas Cederna, Ann Cederna Frederick, Joseph Cederna, Dr. Paul Cederna and Joan Cederna-Moss; several great-grandchildren and his good friend and companion for several years, Ruth Champion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Modesta; an infant brother, Filippo; a brother, Roosevelt; a sister, Doris Jacobs; and his wife, Emma.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Caspian. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Fr. Otta Sartorelli offering the Mass of Christian Burial.

The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will form the honor guard at the funeral service. Burial will take place in the Stambaugh Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Geno Fiorazo, Joe Fittante, Ernest Remondini, Al Rizzardi, Geno Selmo, Oliver Wester, Bob Johnson, Raymond Zwach and Howard Hawk.

The family is being served by the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home in Crystal Falls.
