i recall reading that Saline was named for a salt mining operation there, making the English pronunciation correct. can't find anything to back that up though Dirt 07:55, 25 Feb 2006 (PST)

  • I may be mistaken, but my impression is that the "standard" pronounciation of the word, as in phrases like saline solution, is [ˈsejËŒlin], whereas the usual pronounciation of the town's name is [ËŒsəˈlin]. . . Juicy 08:18, 25 Feb 2006 (PST)
