In the news

Steve Kasle, who co-owns the restaurant with his wife Mercy Kasle, said that business has been inconsistent over the years, and that it’s just the right time for the husband-and-wife team to walk away from it.

Reviews

I was interested in checking out the offerings of Mercy's recently hired new chef, Frank Fejeran, who was previously a chef at the esteemed Tribute restaurant in Farmington Hills, which closed in 2009.

Mercy’s, the restaurant that opened January 22nd, succeeding The Earle Uptown in The Bell Tower Hotel, and previous to that the even more upscale Escoffier, is decidedly un-fancy. The ornate French bistro ambience of its predecessors — with delicate lace curtains, pastel paintings of European scenes and linen tablecloths — is gone, and in exchange there is a stark, contemporary feel: white walls; simple, yet elegant, hanging light fixtures; and modern pictures throughout. But while The Earle Uptown was often desolate, Mercy’s was busy and lively on both our recent visits, perhaps because it’s new — but also because the prices, while hardly inexpensive, are far more modest.
