Louis W. Doll is the author of A History of the Newspapers of Ann Arbor 1829-1920, Wayne State University Press 1959, LCCN 59-9322.

Dr. Doll began his teaching career at Bay City Junior College in 1953, moving over to Delta College in 1961 and retiring in 1977.

He was candidate in primary for delegate to Michigan state constitutional convention from Bay County, 1961; candidate for Michigan state senate 24th District, 1962.

He grew up in Chelsea and Ann Arbor, and received his Ph.D. in History at the University of Michigan in 1937.
