Laura Jean McBride, a 26-year-old Eastern Michigan University student and Air Force veteran, was killed on May 23, 1983. Her body was found on a path along the Huron River, in the area that is now Ypsilanti's Peninsular Park.
On Wednesday, January 30, 2008, Jimmy Eric Green was found guilty of McBride's rape and murder; Green was arraigned in 2007 while already serving a sentence for another rape, after DNA evidence matched him to the McBride case.
