Kalitta Air is an FAR 121 Air Carrier specializing in moving freight worldwide. It began service in November 2000 with three Boeing 747 aircraft and the fleet has grown to a present total of sixteen B747s.

Its main base is Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, and it maintains a maintenance facility in Oscoda on the grounds of the former Wurtsmith Air Force Base.

The CEO is former drag racer Connie Kalitta.

After company mechanics worked through Christmas designing and building a portable electric lift and outfitting the jet interiors with ball mats and roller strips, room for two caskets each, the pilots flew themselves into place on New Year's Eve. The next day, they were back in the air.
