Obituary

ROSEN, JEFFREY KENNETH I've always loved that line from Pete Seeger's song: that he gets up each morning and checks the obits to see if he's listed. Well, I finally made it! I lost my battle with cancer on February 8, 2014. My wife, Huda Karaman Rosen, and I arrived in Ann Arbor in 1974. We raised a family with our two daughters (Suma and Salwa) and then when Suma married, her husband Geoff joined our family too. Along the way to get here, I did a number of things: taught high school general science, was a partner in a lab animal quality control company, got my PhD in kidney physiology from Brown University, taught at the University of Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania, and was the assistant to the director of the Amphibian Facility in the Zoology Department at the University of Michigan. But the highlight of my working career (and what a highlight it was, lasting for 27 years!) was to work as a Business Analyst, a Systems Analyst and a Programmer at the U-M Hospital Systems in the computer department (MCIT). I loved every day I was there - even the rough ones! I retired in 2005 and since then I have been volunteering at The Dispute Resolution Center here in Ann Arbor and also as a volunteer driver at Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels. If you are so inclined, you can make a donation to either The Dispute Resolution Center or Packard Health Clinic. These two non-profits are doing beautiful work providing services that are needed to help people in our community. I invite you to join my friends and family at my memorial service on Saturday, February 15, at the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor (4001 Ann Arbor - Saline Road). The memorial will be from 11:30 - 3:00pm, with a service from 12:00-1:00pm and refreshments to follow. Please visit www.muehligannarbor.com to leave the family your condolences.
