At 66, Ian Bund is the elder statesman of Michigan's venture capital industry but he still hasn't lost his enthusiasm for investing in promising young companies in the state. "I turn up at work every day excited about the possibilities," said the chairman of Plymouth Management Co., an Ann Arbor-based venture capital firm. "I'm constantly meeting people prepared to put themselves out there to make things happen. That to me is exhilarating."
Ian has been active in venture capital investing and building companies since 1969 and brings deep financial and technology expertise to Plymouth Venture Partners. He has been involved with building over 350 companies and has served on the Board of more than twenty companies. Successful exits include 36 IPOs and numerous strategic sales such as Ventana Medical Systems, Promega, Lifescan, Birtcher, Stratacom, and Neogen. He formed the first institutional venture capital firms in Michigan and has led or co-led 13 funds. He received a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Sydney and an MBA from Harvard University and is an Australian Chartered Accountant.
