The Goethe Commandery No. 28 of the United Friends of Michigan is listed in city directories of 1892 through 1895.
The United Friends of Michigan was a fraternal benefit association, established by Act 49 of 1893. It provided insurance to its members, and news accounts from 1898 write of its insolvency.
