Public service and youth involvement have been hallmarks of George D. Goodman's career in local government. He served as mayor of Ypsilanti from 1972-1983 and was awarded the prestigious Public Service Achievement Award by Common Cause in 1987. George has held numerous civic leadership roles including chair of the United Way of Michigan, board member of Starr Commonwealth and Youth for Understanding, and chair of the Washtenaw County Community College Foundation.
