A listing of water fountains and features, mostly outdoors and visible to the public.

Ingalls Mall - "Sunday Morning in Deep Waters" by Carl Milles

The Campus Inn - Video 921 East Huron Street, Ann Arbor, MI

City Hall Justice Center - the Dreiseitl sculpture in front of city hall. This artistic fountain uses storm water from the city hall building, re-purposing it for the fountain, and the plantings that are part of the installation. The water level can rise and fall in the surrounding area, depending on precipitation.

Culligan's Water Fountain (not active) When Culligan had offices on Jackson Rd. (near the muffler shop and the new Walgreens) there was an active fountain in front. It seems to still be there, but is wrapped in a tarp.

Argo Cascades - A water feature, in nature. Created from the old canoe portage east of the dam, it is the new passage around the dam for kayaks, canoes, and other small vessels. There is a walking path along its length, and you can watch people shoot through human made small channels, or play in the multiple pools created by rock features. Access from the west side of the river is difficult, it is easily accessed by using the steps north and west of the Broadway bridge and taking a short walk up river; come in from the livery on Longshore (there is parking there) or come in through the gate on Swift St. Of course, it is easy to access from the river by canoe, kayak, etc. The entrance is river left, before the dam.

West Park - There is a small pond in the park, of questionable health. Storm water features exist throughout the park now, with marshes, dry rivers (very active during rain and snow melt) and enough water passing through the park to occasionally blow utility covers. The Allen Creek drain can be heard, smelled, and "felt" below the surface of the path on the South side of the park, there are grates and utility covers over the creek and along the path. One of the interesting things about how water moves through this park is how much it can change from day to day and even moment to moment.

Dolph Park -

Gallup Park -

Waterworks Park - A tributary of the Allen Creek flows underneath, but there are no water features or any water associated with this park. It is located between 7th and 8th St, at the bottom of the hill and across from Murray Ct. and Slauson Middle School.

University of Michigan School of Music Pond - A great biking destination midway through north campus, take a UM bus, or drive. Also nice walk from nearby campus buildings. More details on the UM web site

Veterans Park - Near the northwest corner of this park (near Maple between Dexter and Jackson Roads - set back from the road) there is a small group of trees. If you go through the trees, there is a steep drop off to a visible creek, that has a very short run. The water flows north and a little west, and ends in a large culvert. This is reported to be the only publicly accessible portion of the Allen Creek that is day-lighted. There is often trash and debris in the area, and of course the water level is variable.
