Earthworks High School opened in October 1971 with 108 students. The school operated in a three-room building at 995 North Maple Road, the former site of Fritz Elementary School, which was furnished with rugs and mattresses instead of desks and chairs. The school closed in 1978 and was merged with Community High School; the building is now the Alano Club.
