David Palmer ran as an Independent candidate for Michigan's 54th House District seat in 2010. Palmer's website stated that his Independent affiliation allows him to "best represent the socially progressive and fiscally responsible values of our diverse district."  His campaign website, and Facebook page were deactivated after the 2010 campaign.  Palmer earned 1340 votes in the 2010 general election, or 4.5% of the vote.

Palmer managed small businesses in Washtenaw County for over a decade.  These companies included http://Lavision.de, an Ypsilanti-based branch of a German company providing high-speed imaging and particle tracking solutions for flow dynamics researchers.  Also Protech Enviornmental Services, an Ann Arbor company that provides residential and commercial environmental remediation services.
