Chauncey S. Goodrich (1787- April 2, 1860) came to Ann Arbor in 1830 from Lima Township. He ran a hotel, the Goodrich House, from 1831 to 1842 on South Fourth Avenue west of the courthouse in Ann Arbor. The first election of trustees of the new city of Ann Arbor was held in this establishment in 1834, and Goodrich was elected trustee.
