Board of Review meetings are held by each city and township in Washtenaw County during the month of March. A Board of Review meeting lets property owners in the county make an appeal on the property tax evaluations made by their local assessing department.
At their Board of Review meeting, homeowners can also apply for a poverty exemption, which can reduce the amount of taxes owed if the homeowner falls below certian financial guidlines set by each city and township.
To appear at a Board of Review meeting, a homeowner usually needs to make an appointment or send in a written appeal to their local assessing department before the meeting. If after attending thier local meeting, the homeowner isn't satisfied with the results, they can appeal to the Michigan Tax Tribunal.
