800 North Main in Ann Arbor was the site of an old, abandoned gasoline station.

The station has been torn down, but underground contaminants remain.

October 7, 2015. Legal fight further delays demolition of long-vacant Main Street gas station. Ann Arbor News. "Ann Arbor City Attorney Kristen Larcom said the church is now asking the court to set aside its default judgment and a new hearing on that request is scheduled for Oct. 8."

September 22, 2014. Lawsuit threat delays demolition of long-vacant, colorful Main Street gas station. Ann Arbor News. "The city of Ann Arbor is determining a course of action on the demolition of a small, colorful former gas station at 800 N. Main St. after its owner threatened to sue contractors hired to complete the demolition."

Hieftje noted there is an old gas station at 800 N. Main St. that the city attorney's office went to court to fight, but a judge told the city it couldn't tear it down.

Moved by A. Milshteyn, Seconded by S. Callan, “that pursuant to Chapter 101 of the City Code, the Board declares 800 North Main Street a Nuisance and Dangerous Building, and further, request an Order to Demolish the building at 800 N. Main Street.” 

On a Voice Vote – MOTION TO APPROVE – PASSED – UNANIMOUS
