The 777 Building, located at the northeast corner of State Street and Eisenhower Parkway is officially called Eisenhower Plaza, though nobody actually knows that.
The 10-story office building, constructed in 1975, hosts 281,000 square feet of office space; a 3-story, 108,000s.f. addition was constructed in 2005 for tenant ProQuest. In early 2008, the building was placed on the market; Chicagoland owners Transwestern Commercial Services did not offer a price, but City assessing records estimated the property's value around $63 million. The building was formerly the home of engineering mega-corporation Bechtel.
777 is one of two large office towers around the intersection (the other is Wolverine Tower). Along with Briarwood Mall, kitty-corner, and the nearby I-94 interchange, these stand-offish office sites combine to make one of the most bike- and pedestrian-hostile intersections in the area.
