The school board needs to fill the seat of Adam Hollier, who resigned on February 12, 2010. The replacement's term will expire December 31, 2010. Applicants will be interviewed by the current board on March 8 and will make a statement at the March 10 meeting. The board is expected to decide on a replacement on the 10th.
Hollier had withdrawn from the 2009 school board race for family reasons, but filed the paperwork too late to be removed from the ballot. He was elected and opted to serve. It is not clear why he resigned in February.
In November 2009, long-time board member Helen Gates-Bryant resigned and was replaced by Simone Lightfoot.
